Sketch Dump: Snifflikawn and Amograv

Some sketches from my conceptual sketchbook. It's a lined paper book; something I honestly do prefer. 

I want to do something with HTTYD badly and eventually I got it in my head that "why not make my own dragons in the HTTYD universe?" Likely set in "cowboy times". I don't have the time to make digital versions, clean refs or work on the game's crunchy bits yet. Life's been busy. However sessions of doodling with my husband has made it worthwhile anyways. 

First is the Snifflikrawn (created by my husband, JP) which is a tracking class dragon. With wrinkles that help keep the scents close and even a pouch to store important scents, these are true bloodhounds of the fire breathing variety. Despite their appearance, they actually are prone to loving the scent of flowers and spending much of their time in prairies. A fan-like tail (which I didn't get to drawn >n> ) is used to wipe away old scents and help mask their own trail. They're actually capable of being hard to track and can only be easily trailed by another Snifflikrawn.

Second is the Amograv (created by me), which is probably to be considered a mystery class dragon. It's body is big, well-muscled yet flat and squishy. Even is wings grow more-so out of the sides of its body to make lying flat more comfortable for them. They bite and eat with their mouths but breathing and fire breathing is separate; it's done by the end of its tail. They'll use their own oil spitting to moisten the ground so they can become one with it, burying themselves with just the tail peaking out. When an intruder (or prey) walks close, they set the area on fire to create a dooming trap. 


I'd like to say these species are closed. I don't know if I'd open them freely if I finished their refs truly but definitely a big no when they're just sketches with the little information I'm giving. I do compel you all to try your hand at making your own HTTYD species! If you like the franchise at all anyways.
